As two people who hate heights, we really enjoyed the challenge of standing on the glass panel looking all those floors down. It was reasonably priced, and a really amazing experience. With the 360 Chicago vs Skydeck battle in full swing, we wanted to summarise the experience at the Skydeck. This also meant that we could spend some extra time in the glass boxes before the crowds arrived. We arrived just before half past 9 and while we had to wait for the admissions stands etc to open once they did we flew through. We visited in October, so the tower didn’t officially open until 10am. We got in early, but be warned you do need to queue to get your picture taken here. Located on the side of the building, at no extra charge, you can step out onto these panels if you dare. The coolest thing about visiting has to be the glass panels. There is also a gift shop where you can buy all your Willis Tower souvenirs. The Skydeck is located on the 103 rd floor of the building, and as per the name provides a spectacular view over Chicago. The tickets are timed so our advice is to go early unless you want to be waiting in line for ages to actually get to the Skydeck. You can book tickets in advance online, and some tickets include the option to skip the queue. We opted for basic entry as we got there pretty early and were able to meet most of the queues anyway. This enables you the pass the exhibits and gives you priority access to the elevators. Costīasic admission is $23.00, however you can also opt for a Fast Pass for $65.00. Once in the building you need to follow the signs and head downstairs in order to buy tickets and wait for the elevator to take you up. The building is about a 10 minute walk away and the entrance to the Skydeck is on Jackson between Wacker and Franklin. Jackson Station is the closest station particularly if you are traveling on the Red or Blue Line. You get get on pretty much any train that will take you downtown to the loop.
